FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 2, 2011

TO:
Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair, Senate Committee on Government Organization

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB265 by Hilderbran (Relating to the lease of space by or for a state agency.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Government Code to require the Texas Facilities Commission to consider all available state-owned space in the state, regardless of geographic location, when making a determination to lease space for, or delegate a lease action to, another state agency.

Texas Facilities Commission reports that the bill would codify the agency's current practices with regard to state agencies and state-owned space. It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
