IN RE: | HB555 by Howard, Donna (Relating to reportable boating accidents and the penalties for certain boating accidents.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Parks and Wildlife Code to mandate that operators of a vessel involved in a collision resulting in death, injury, or property damage notify the Parks and Wildlife Department rather than file a report. The bill would increase the dollar threshold for property damage from $500 to $2000. The bill would require a marine safety enforcement officer to file a report to the department any incident the officer investigates that involves a collision resulting in death, injury, or property damage ($2000 and over) no later than the 15th day after the officer initially becomes aware of the incident. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.
