No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require contract carriers to maintain $3 million of liability insurance and $300,000 uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage for each vehicle. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) anticipates no significant fiscal impact from the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
