HB901 by Thompson (Relating to spousal maintenance.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend sections of the Texas Family Code relating to spousal maintenance.  The proposed amendments address a variety of issues including, but not limited to the following:  eligibility, duration, termination, enforcement, and overpayment.  The bill would increase the maximum maintenance amount from $2,500 to $5,000. To the extent the bill would result in an increase in court filings, no significant fiscal implication from an increase in judicial workloads or to the state is anticipated. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
