IN RE:
HB995 by Gutierrez (Relating to provision by the secretary of state of notice to a candidate of the form of the candidate's name that will appear on the general election ballot.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Secretary of State to provide certain notice by e-mail to each candidate included in the certification of nominees for statewide and district offices for placement on general election ballots. The notice would be required to contain the exact form for which the candidate’s name would be certified for placement on the ballot along with information on how to correct errors in the candidate’s name. It is anticipated that any costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds or on September 1, 2011.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
