LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 4, 2011

TO:
Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1010 by Bonnen (Relating to enforcement of commercial motor vehicle safety standards in certain municipalities.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to add to those municipalities in which a police officer is eligible to apply for certification to enforce commercial motor vehicle safety standards, a municipality within 25 miles from an international port and in a county without an interstate highway that is adjacent to a county with a population greater than 3.3 million.

Local Government Impact

There could be a fiscal impact to applicable municipalities that would be responsible for costs associated with officers attending training to become certified. It is assumed that a municipality would only apply for certification if associated costs could be absorbed within an existing budget; therefore, no significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
