No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 2157, Government Code, to prohibit a state agency from purchasing a new personal computer to replace an existing personal computer before the fourth anniversary of the date the existing personal computer was purchased except under emergency circumstances. The Comptroller of Public Accounts would adopt rules establishing the emergency circumstances under which an agency may make an emergency purchase. The bill would apply to purchases made on or after August 1, 2012. It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.
