No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code relating to the hours which the polls are open for early voting by personal appearance.  It is anticipated that any costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.  The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011.


Local Government Impact

Harris County anticipates costs of $208,385 annually related to extended hours for polling.

Dallas County anticipates costs of $80,000 for fiscal year (FY) 2012, increasing annually to $97,241 in FY 2016.
