No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code relating to an application to run for political office. A candidate could not amend an application after the filing deadline and the authority with whom the application is filed could not accept an amendment. In addition, after the filing deadline, a candidate could not amend a petition in lieu of a filing fee submitted with the candidate’s application and the authority with whom the application is filed could not accept an amendment. It is anticipated that any costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
