No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code relating to an application to run for political office.  A candidate would not be allowed to amend an application after it is filed and the authority with whom the application is filed would not be allowed to accept an amendment.  In addition, a candidate would not be allowed to amend a petition in lieu of a filing fee submitted with the candidate’s application and the authority with whom the application is filed would not be allowed to accept an amendment.  It is anticipated that any costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.  The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
