LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 9, 2011

TO:
Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1172 by Fletcher (Relating to resources available to the Texas Veterans Commission.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code and require that the Fund for Veterans' Assistance Account No. 0368 (Fund) be divided into two accounts. The first account would include federal funds transferred at the direction of the legislature into the Fund and the second account would include state funding transferred at the direction of the legislature into the Fund. The Texas Veterans Commission would be required to determine the appropriate funds to be included in each account and make the appropriate accounting entries with the Comptroller of Public Accounts. It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
