IN RE: | HB1385 by Harless (Relating to personalization of certain license plates issued to veterans with disabilities.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend Section 504.202, Transportation Code, to authorize a person to allow a person eligible for Disabled Veteran specialty license plates to personalize the specialty plate. The bill would specify that a personalized Disabled Veteran specialty plate would not require certain design elements prescribed for a standard Disabled Veteran specialty plate under current law.
Based on the analysis of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency’s existing resources. Also based on the information provided by DMV, it is assumed a $40 plate personalization fee would apply to a personalized Disabled Veteran plate issued under the provisions of the bill. This analysis does not estimate any amount of revenue that may generated from eligible individuals who may elect to purchase a personalized specialty plate under the provisions of the bill. Based on the analsysis of the Comptroller's office, it is assumed the bill could result in a positive impact to State revenue.
