IN RE:
HB1507 by Christian ( Relating to the issuance of certain search warrants in certain counties.), Committee Report 1st House, As Amended
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to authorize the magistrate of a county with a population of less than 100,000 to issue a search warrant. A magistrate who is not an attorney would be required to annually complete a minimum of eight hours of training regarding the issuance of warrants.
Local Government Impact
There could be costs associated with the annual training requirement, but the amounts would vary depending on the number of magistrates that issue warrants who are not attorneys and current procedures and training requirements. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
