HB1539 by Hochberg (Relating to state ownership of school textbooks.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would strike provisions of the Texas Education Code stipulating that textbooks purchased by the state are the property of the state and provisions requiring that students cover textbooks.

Local Government Impact

School districts would no longer have to require that students cover textbooks.
