LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 26, 2011

TO:
Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1550 by Aycock (Relating to participation in state travel service contracts by open-enrollment charter schools.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize open-enrollment charter school participation in the State of Texas' contract for travel services.  Under current law, state costs for administration of the program are funded through fees paid by participants.  It is assumed for the purposes of this estimate that the fees generated by participating charter schools would be sufficient to offset any incremental costs associated with extension of the program to these entities.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
