LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 3, 2011

TO:
Honorable Mike Hamilton, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1563 by Flynn (Relating to the period of time between certain local option elections to legalize or prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to prohibit a local option election on the same issue from being conducted in a political subdivision until after the first anniversary of the most recent local option election, but would exclude a county with a population of at least 52,000 but not more than 53,000 from the requirement, as defined by the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
