FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 11, 2011

TO:
Honorable Mike Hamilton, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1563 by Flynn (Relating to the period of time between certain local option elections to legalize or prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to increase the amount of time from one year to three years between local option elections on the same issue. The bill would limit the county expense for an election to legalize or prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages to once during a three-year period.

Local Government Impact

There could be a savings to a local government as a result of the change from one year to three years for a local option election; however, it is not anticipated to be significant.
