IN RE: | HB1716 by Garza (Relating to regulations on certain complementary and alternative health care services.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend Title 3 of the Occupations Code by adding a chapter that would apply to providers of complementary and alternative healing methods, treatments, and therapies. A new subchapter would prohibit certain practices by these providers and would require certain disclosures be made to clients before providing services. The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) estimates that the bill would result in the referral of 30 additional cases per fiscal year related to Health and Safety Code violations to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). It is assumed that costs related to the additional investigations and referrals could be absorbed by DSHS and OAG by utilizing existing resources.
