LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 21, 2011

TO:
Honorable Richard Pena Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1854 by Rodriguez, Eddie (Relating to certain arrangements to provide care for a child during an investigation of abuse or neglect.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Department of Family and Protective Services to follow certain policies when placing a child in temporary out-of-home care during an investigation of abuse or neglect.  The agency indicates the bill very closely mirrors current child protective services policy.  It is assumed any cost to implement the provisions of the bill would be minimal and can be absorbed within available resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
