LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 23, 2011

TO:
Honorable Garnet Coleman, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1869 by Giddings (Relating to local governments that may consider a bidder's principal place of business when awarding a contract.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend sections of the Local Government Code to authorize a municipality, a county, or another political subdivision to purchase real property or personal property that is not affixed to real property. Under current statute, there are population criteria for municipalities and counties to meet in order to purchase real property.

Local Government Impact

It is assumed that a municipality, a county, or another political subdivision would enter into a contract to purchase real property or personal property only if sufficient funds were available. Therefore, no significant fiscal implication is anticipated.
