LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 1, 2011

TO:
Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2080 by King, Tracy O. (Relating to certification of a person as eligible for disabled parking privileges.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to expand provisions in current law to allow the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to accept a notarized statement from a licensed physician assistant acting as the agent of a licensed physician or person acting under the delegation and supervision of a licensed physician in conformance with Subchapter B, Chapter 157, Occupations Code, along with an initial application for the issuance of a disabled parking placard in any county. Provisions in current law limit this authority to an application submitted by a person residing in a county with a population of 125,000 or less.

Based on the analysis of DMV, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
