No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Business and Commerce provides a presumption that a person has engaged in a false, misleading or deceptive act if the majority of the person’s inventory consists of oriental rugs and the rugs are advertised at a specified reduced price without disclosing how many rugs are available for purchase at that reduced price. The bill may result in new complaints and investigations by the Office of the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection and Public Health Division. However, it is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.
