IN RE: | HB2096 by Thompson (Relating to the filing of writs of habeas corpus in mental health cases.), As Engrossed |
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code relating to the filing of writs of habeas corpus in mental health cases. The bill would require a petition for a writ of habeas corpus to be filed in the court of appeals for which the trial court’s order is entered, rather than being filed in the court of appeals within which the facility itself is located. No significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated.
