LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 18, 2011

TO:
Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2137 by Guillen (Relating to the issuance of exempt license plates to certain open-enrollment charter school vehicles.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 502.202 of the Transportation Code to authorize the annual registration without payment of a registration fee for certain vehicles used exclusively in the service of an open-enrollment charter school.

Based on the information and analysis provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact to vehicle registration fee revenue collections deposited to State Highway Fund 0006 or retained by the counties. Based on the analysis of DMV, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
