LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 6, 2011

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2229 by Coleman (Relating to the creation of the Texas HIV Medication Advisory Committee.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to establish the Texas HIV Medication Advisory Committee to advise the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) in the development of procedures and guidelines for the Texas HIV Medication program. The bill would repeal Section 85.066, Health and Safety Code, which authorizes but does not require an advisory committee for the HIV Medication program.

Based on the analysis of HHSC and DSHS, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
