FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 19, 2011

TO:
Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2266 by Smith, Wayne (Relating to fire code certificates of compliance.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize a county to issue a partial certificate of compliance for any portion of a building or complex the inspector determines is in compliance with the fire code. A county would be authorized to issue a conditional certificate of compliance for a building that does not comply with the fire code and allow the building to be occupied, but could also revoke the conditional certificate if an owner does not remedy the violations within the specified time.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
