No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Transportation Code to increase the amount of a contract from $25,000 or less to $50,000 or less to which a board of a rapid transit authority would not be required to contract for the construction of an improvement or the purchase of any property, except through competitive bidding after posting a notice of the contract proposal in a prominent place for at least two weeks.
The bill also would increase the aggregate amount from $25,000 or less to $50,000 or less that an executive committee of a regional transportation authority or a metropolitan rapid transit authority would be authorized to negotiate a contract without competitive sealed bids or proposals as defined by the provisions of the bill.
Local Government Impact
An applicable mass transit authority reported no fiscal impact is anticipated to implement the provisions of the bill.
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
