IN RE:	HB2340 by Larson (Relating to the creation of a cybersecurity, education, and economic development council.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would establish the Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development Council.  The bill would require the Coucil to meet at least quarterly at the call of the presiding officer and conduct an interim study and make recommendations to improve the infrastructure of the state's cybersecurity operations with existing resources to the executive director of the Department of Information Resources.  The Council may request assistance from state agencies.  The Coucil is required to submit a report on its findings to the executive director, the governor, the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and various legislative committee members. 

The provisions in the bill would expire and the Council would be abolished on September 1, 2013. 

The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.  

It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.
