LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 19, 2011

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2414 by Miles (Relating to the continuation of the Healthy Food Advisory Committee.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would continue the Health Food Advisory Committee until September 1, 2013, and would require the committee to investigate sources of funding for improving the retail availability of fresh fruits and vegetables and other healthy foods in this state, including programs and grants administered by the federal government and nongovernmental organizations.

This analysis anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current the resources of the Department of Agriculture.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house; otherwise it would take effect September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
