The bill would amend the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code, Section 1, Subchapter A, Chapter 74, by requiring a health care institution owned or operated by the state or subdivision of the state, including a hospital district, provide written notice to the individual being treated disclosing; the liability limits applicable to a health care liability claim against the institution; the liability limits applicable to a health care liability claim against a private institution; whether a physician or health care provider is covered by malpractice insurance or another form of financial responsibility and the amounts of that responsibility if any.
The bill takes effect on September 1, 2011.
It is assumed tha any costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed with in exsisting resources.
