No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Government Code to require state executive, legislative, and judicial agencies and institutions of higher education to collaborate with Indian tribes located in this state when developing and implementing policies, agreement, and programs that directly affect American Indians. The bill would also require the governor to meet with the leaders of state Indian tribes once each fiscal year to address issues of mutual concern.

The bill would not create any right of action against a state agency or waive state or tribal immunity. The bill would take immediate effect upon receiving two-thirds votes in each house, otherwise it would take effect September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
