HB2630 by Branch (Relating to the formal recognition of The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center and to administration of the health institutions and programs of the system.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The provisions of the bill formally recognize the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center (TAMUSHSC) which currently exists and includes the College of Medicine, Dentistry, Center School of Rural Public Health, Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, School of Graduate Studies, Institute of Biosciences and Technology, Center Coastal Bend Health Education Center, Center Rural and Community Health Institute; and other schools, colleges, and institutes. It includes agencies assigned to the health science center, provided that those schools, colleges, institutes, and agencies may also be dissolved, merged, or eliminated in the same manner in which they were assigned.

The provisions of the bill also establish joint positions with TAMUSHSC and the Texas A&M University System component institutions.

The bill takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
