IN RE:
HB2656 by Miller, Sid (Relating to exemption from application of the Private Security Act of certain peace officers employed by a law enforcement agency.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Section 1702.322, Occupations Code, to exempt certain peace officers employed by a law enforcement agency from application of the Private Security Act. The bill would extend the Private Security Act's exemption for full-time peace officers to chiefs of police, sheriffs, constables, or other chief administrators of law enforcement agencies, and eliminate the requirement of full-time employment as a peace officer. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. This analysis assumes that the implementation of the provisions of the bill would pose no significant fiscal impact to the state.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
