No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would include housing authorities amongst agencies that are eligible to obtain from the Texas Department of Public Safety history record information of an employee or an applicant of housing authorities or residential dwelling projects. Residential dwelling is defined as apartments, condominiums, hotels, and other lodging establishments not regulated under the same provisions as nursing homes.
Criminal history record information obtained by the public housing authority or residential dwelling projects must be done so with the authorization of the person who is the subject of the information.
The Department of Public Safety and the Department of Housing and Community Affairs anticipate no significant fiscal impact from the bill.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.
