IN RE:
HB2738 by Gonzalez, Naomi (Relating to criminal history background checks performed in relation to the occupancy or use of a public housing unit.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would include housing authorities amongst agencies that are eligible to obtain from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) history record information of tenants or applicants of public housing. Criminal history record information received by the housing authority may be released or disclosed to any person who is the subject of the criminal history record information.
DPS cannot determine the potential volume of background check requests that might occur as a result of this bill. This analysis assumes DPS could implement the provisions of the bill within existing appropriations.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
