LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 10, 2011

TO:
Honorable Craig Estes, Chair, Senate Committee on Agriculture & Rural Affairs

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2742 by Kleinschmidt (Relating to the business of structural pest control.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to broaden the definition of a structural pest control business to include any person who offers to perform, or advertises for or solicits the person's performance of structural pest control activities.

It is anticipated that any additional work resulting from the implementation of the bill could be reasonably absorbed by the Department of Agriculture.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house; otherwise it would take effect September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
