LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 15, 2011

TO:
Honorable Larry Taylor, Chair, House Committee on Elections

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3082 by Isaac (relating to the location of certain mobile voting stations.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to require a mobile voting station used in an early voting election for a bond proposition in a city or a school district located in a county with a population of more than one million to be placed in the territory in a manner to allow all voters similar access to the mobile voting station during the early voting period.

Local Government Impact

There could be costs to a local governmental entity to implement the provisions of the bill, but the amounts would vary.

Bexar County reported there would be no fiscal impact because the county currently does not have any mobile voting stations available.

Tarrant County reported that any costs associated with the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the county’s existing resources.
