The bill would amend the Family Code to clarify that the court has discretion to enter a protective order based on the parties' agreement without making a finding that a party committed family violence. To the extent the bill would amend court procedures, no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.
