LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 12, 2011

TO:
Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3269 by Callegari (Relating to traffic-control signalization.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to clarify that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) may include grants for studies on traffic control signalization through the New Technology Research and Development program. The bill would amend the Transportation Code to direct the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to conduct a study regarding traffic-control signalization improvements and to report findings to certain government officials by December 1, 2012. TxDOT would be allowed to spend no more than $200,000 to conduct this study.

Based on the analysis of TCEQ, TxDOT, and the Department of Public Safety, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
