HB3299 by Zerwas (Relating to services provided by a health care professional at an assisted living facility.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 247.002 (1), Health and Safety Code by adding subsection (1)(D), which would add that an assisted living facility may provide skilled nursing services for a limited duration or to facilitate the provision of hospice services.  The bill would also amend 247.067(b), Health and Safety Code to authorize an assisted living facility to employ a health care professional to provide skilled nursing or hospice services to facility residents. 

The Act would take effect September 1, 2011.

The Department of Aging and Disability Services indicates the bill could be implemented within existing resources.
