No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would repeal Section 127.201 of the Election Code related to partial count of electronic voting system ballots.  The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

The bill would repeal the requirement of a general custodians of election records to conduct a manual count of all the races in at least one percent of the election precincts or in three precincts, whichever is greater, in which an electronic voting system was used.

Savings to counties would vary depending on the number of precincts and the size of the precincts selected but are not anticipated to be significant.
