LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 29, 2011

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3336 by Coleman (Relating to information regarding pertussis for parents of newborn children.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 161 of the Health and Safety Code to require that information on the prevention of pertussis disease be added to the resource pamphlet that the bill requires to pregnant women. The bill would take effect immediately with a two-thirds vote of all members of each house, or on September 1, 2011.

The Department of State Health Services estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
