No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to provide that when a constitutional county judge in a county with a population of 2 million or more (Harris and Dallas Counties) does not take action on a magistrate's recommendations in truancy cases within three working days, the recommendations are adopted by the judge. The bill would also give a magistrate the same judicial immunity as a district judge. To the extent the bill would amend court procedures and immunity provisions, no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.
