No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Section 61.008 of the Health and Safety Code to allow governmental entities, public hospitals, and hospital districts to consider, as allowed by federal law or regulations, the income and resources of a person who has executed an affidavit of support for a “sponsored alien” when determining the eligibility of the “sponsored alien” for county indigent health care services. It is assumed that any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill can be absorbed within existing agency resources.
This act would take effect immediately if it receives two-thirds vote of all members of each house. If it does not receive the necessary votes it would take effect September 1, 2011.
