LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 12, 2011

TO:
Honorable Tommy Williams, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3730 by Martinez, "Mando" (Relating to certain privatization of maintenance contracts awarded by the Texas Department of Transportation.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 223.042 of the Transportation Code to authorize the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to award a maintenance contract as a purchase of service under Subtitle D, Title 10, Government Code, in alignment with rules adopted by the Comptroller regarding the delegation of purchasing authority to state agencies.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
