FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 22, 2011

TO:
Honorable Jim Jackson, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3796 by Gallego (relating to the composition of certain judicial districts.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code relating to the composition of certain judicial districts. The bill would remove Edwards County from the 63rd Judicial District and incorporate it within the 198th Judicial District. There were no civil cases filed or disposed of in Edwards County in 2010 with 33 criminal cases filed and resolved. The reduction/increase in workload for either court is negligible. No significant fiscal impact is anticipated.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
