SB116 by Uresti (Relating to protective orders against dating violence.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code relating to protective orders safeguarding persons in dating relationships.  The bill would amend the definition of dating violence to expand the number of situations in which the issuance of a protective order by a court would be appropriate.  To the extent the bill would amend the definition of dating violence; the change is not anticipated to increase the workload of the courts statewide.  The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds vote by houses.  Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2011.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
