IN RE:
SB132 by Wentworth (Relating to registration with the Selective Service System of certain applicants for a driver's license or personal identification certificate. ), As Passed 2nd House
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to electronically submit certain information to the United States Selective Service System from applicable male applicants for original, renewal, or duplicate driver’s licenses or personal identification certificates. The bill also would require DPS to provide written notice to these applicants that their application also constitutes registration with the United States Selective Service System. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.
This analysis assumes DPS could implement the provisions of the bill within existing appropriations. No significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
