LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 8, 2011

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB335 by Fraser (Relating to an exemption from regulation as health spas for certain governmental hospitals and clinics.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would exempt a hospital or clinic owned or operated by an agency of the state or federal government or by a political subdivision of the state from the definition and regulations of a health spa.  It is assumed that there would be a small probable loss to the General Revenue Fund.  It is anticipated that any costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.  The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
