LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 25, 2011

TO:
Honorable Troy Fraser, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB339 by Gallegos (Relating to disclosure by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality of information related to emissions events.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require that notice of emissions event reports be provided to four elected officials who represent the area in which the emissions event occurred for each report made to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). It would also require the TCEQ to maintain a list that includes information on emission events that occurred in the preceding 12 weeks on the agency website that is accessible by the public.

Passage of the bill would require the TCEQ to make modifications to its data systems. This estimate assumes that cost associated with the modifications could be absorbed using existing agency resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
